Remember the "secret project"?
A long time ago, I referred to a secret project in response to [info]deguspice's inquiry. Quite some time later, it has finally come to fruition! The first person to know about it was, of course, [info]fizzygeek. The second person happened to be [info]badmagic. Since then, [info]beaq, [info]vvalkyri, [info]orkney, and the aforementioned [info]deguspice (and presumably [info]quietann) have heard about it.

So I now offer a URL, an image,

and this:

8 NE C-3

BTW, if people have wondered why I've been scarce lately, yes, this is part of the reason.

wow that is a long time ago. I suppose I'll have to go looking for hamsters.

I had been vaguely playing with the idea for all this time, but the announcement of the 2008 show a few weeks ago galvanized me into actually trying to assemble something. Sadly, the hamster didn't make it. Neither did the other one I was discussing with [info]badmagic (technical problems, and I ran out of time). But I did manage to field four pieces, and the last piece is now waiting in my car to ride out there. I'll be taking Metro, as I'm expecting the last day of installation to be a madhouse.

Heh. Last year Artomatic was next door to the building where I was working in Crystal City, so I spent many lunch hours wandering around looking at art. So I decided to play artist and give it a go.

Um. Shiny. What does it do?

It's geeky interactive art. It has various lights, readouts, and meters, and reacts to you pushing buttons and turning knobs. If left alone for a while, it gets bored and just occasionally blinks or twitches the meter. They more you play with it, the more excited it gets, and the meter moves faster and farther, more lights come on, and so forth.

I definitely need to try to make it out there this year. . .it's only eight blocks from home.

It's a blast, I think you'd enjoy it. And it would be cool to see you, if you happen to be there sometime I am.

Ah, cool! DC-SOAR has a lot of bands playing there this year, on May 17th.
